What causes a pipe to burst
A pipe bursts when pressure inside it exceeds what the wall can hold. Freezing water expands and splits the pipe; high pressure or corrosion weakens it until it fails.
In La Quinta, hard water and summer heat are common contributors. A burst pipe needs the water shut off first, then a repair; see Burst Pipe Repair.
